I'm haven't written any poetry in ages, and I almost never, ever, ever write in rhyme but I think all the rhythms of this past festival inspired me.
The Longing
Through the dappled shade and shadow,
through the flickering play of light,
there is a place I once did know
where faeries dance and magic's bright.
I've stumbled there a time or several,
lingered there with no desires
to return to world so hard and banal,
wishing only for sweet songs and fires.
'Twas not to last despite my yearning
for in my bed at last awoke,
back from the green afresh with learning,
magick lives my memories spoke.
Bittersweet the hidden knowledge
of realms that veils oft hold apart.
Although my feet through this world trudge,
the other world holds still my heart
Despite life filled with task and treasure,
I listen for fae footsteps fall,
through the green I'll dance with pleasure
when portal parts and faeries call.

Re: Another poem
Wed, August 12, 2009 - 10:08 AMthis is what I wrote on me blog on Monday, I suck at poetry but this is what was in me head
a week ago to the day i left my home,
not of my own choosing
my scattered family gone already
I sat alone in a dusty field
remembereing how just hours earlier
we all sat sang and laughed together.
and there I stood viewing the field
where the fae had so recently held court
where fire spewed and epic ballads were sung
where swords met and hearts became one
Pirates played with sprite,
satyrs and nymphs entwined
Old and young embraced
and swayed together
in a beutiful fire driven dance
Through it all I danced my dance
the joker, story teller an Salty Dog
I left the real world and lived a dream
to be more than I am in on the other side of the veil
Old friends were held closer
remembering times gone by
new friends become family
welcome wholy to the fold
and some friends
evolve to something new
before your very eyes
a week has past
and I am still in that dusty field
yearning to have it all back
to split the veil then never return
for a year is too long to return to my home. -

Re: Another poem
Wed, August 12, 2009 - 10:09 PMHawk, your poem makes me feel all choked up inside. I was actually AT Mt. Pisgah today, unplanned but I was looking at a house just a quarter mile away. I thought of driving back in to the FW area but thought it would be too sad to see it all empty of fae. So instead I drove up the arboretum side and sat for a bit. -

Re: Another poem
Thu, August 13, 2009 - 10:25 PMIt was pretty perfect in almost every aspect except one. It had half a house. Literally. Someone took half the house away and left it like that. Banks tend to get a bit nervous over the "open air" model of house design. So I don't think we could swing a mortgage. If the house had had a back wall, I think we'd have already put an offer in.
