Tue, August 4, 2009 - 12:33 PMI agree! I'm still a bit fuzzy from the heat, less sleep than usual and the sheer overwhelmingness (Is that a word? It is now.) of meeting so many new COMFy friends and the great experience that is always Faerieworlds.
This was by far my best Faerieworlds - I've gone every year since '06 - and it would've been even better without the debilitating heat, but that was completely out of the control of the Faerieworlds people who did a fantastic job in spite of many new challenges.

Well of course our handfasting has to be the most amazing moment of our livesand that was Saturday at arround 6 that we started and then went straight to the festival so that combined with saturday night after that the world was on FIRE! The woods were dancing and the grass was wrapping arround our feets as we all danced to the beat of the drums it was as if we all were one with nature. I had NEVER experience ANYTHING like that in my life. And neither had the guys. This weekend has changed our lives forever. We will never look at life the same. Everything in nature we encounter will be more percious to us. We will here it's wispers and feel it's touch from now on. As if it is one with us just as it was Saturday night.

Tue, August 4, 2009 - 5:44 PMAs strange as it seems, the last night was my personal fave. Having a wonderful dinner with COMF was wondwerful, and then we went back to camp and got to spend time singing in a circle singing with Lio and Kelly and many other fun and silly people was wonderful!

Wed, August 5, 2009 - 2:18 PMThe fact that I actually got to spiral dance this year. I havent in two years because of my health and this year in April was the end of my "life expectancy" but instead of dying Im so much better I actually FINISHED the Spiral Dance AND danced to the bands! It was an amazing year for me and I am SO GRATEFUL to the Universe that I am still here to share in it!!
The last night with my Circle of Merry Folk...dinner and playing.
Red noses...you guys rocked it and the smiles on Lio and Kellys faces were priceless. I love you.

- being gifted a beautiful doll from Patricia Hedegaard (I cried!)
- being gifted a gorgeous headpiece from the lovely Becca Black- seriously, that piece is amazing!
- getting to sell lotion and soap to two of my favorite musicians- Alexander James Adams and Rudiger (percussionist from Faun)
- trying not to fangirl at Rudiger from Faun
- meeting Hawk, Rowan, Mermie, Andre, Zoe, Airrowin, Becca, John, Mermie, Patricia... the list is too long to name!
- getting to spend time with the wild Thornberries! My homies from California- I love you!
- a romantic "carpet picnic" with my sweetheart, Alec
- dancing my ass off to Faun
- wondering for weeks if I would totally fail at my first vending show- and having everything work out

Being proposed to on Saturday night while Faun chanted gorgeous things in the background. I said yes. I am engaged! -

#3--Bringing my BFF with me to see a side of myself that she has yet to see.
#2--Having an artist draw-me-in perfect depiction of the fantasy story of my life.
and
#3-- By far most favorite moment was--the moonlight swim with a certain someone on Saturday night--which will be a moment in the water I will never forget.
Plus all the music, and wonderful little goodies made or gathered and offered to me for such tempting pleasure! and the food that was so my delight--and the people the other faerires who twinkled and flittered so beautiful my eyes could hardly stop dancing with joy in seeing those who are like I am... making a bitchy-bond with another at the hotel--next year I am camping! But, love the bitchy-bond thing (remember me?)
anyway--can't wait until next year and hope I can run into a few of you during the next cycle of the year... I felt at home every moment even with changes and I especially liked swimming with someone I wish to heck I knew how to make contact with now! Oh, where are you???

Fri, August 7, 2009 - 11:04 AMThere was a moment on Friday night when I was up near the stage, lost in the music. I glanced around me and suddenly realized I was literally surrounded on all sides by smiling and swaying friends. Several other people had the same experience and commented on it later. It was as if the warmth (the good kind, not the sweltering day kind) of that moment suddenly grew four times more brilliant.
Meeting all my COMFy friends.
How many times I chatted with strangers (some now new friends) and heard variations on the same story over and over - "I saw a poster/heard someone talking about/stumbled upon Faerieworlds online - and I just knew I had to be there. I jumped in my car/on a plane/with a friend... and here I am!"
The vendor who offered me bottled water for my husband even though there wasn't anything I could buy to eat from them.
The vendor who made gluten free noodles for Victoria.
The vendor who pulled my granddaughter Joli up on her lap and read an entire Froud faery storybook to her.
Stone soup night - what a juxtaposition! (Yeah, you guys know what I mean!)
Those awesome sunsets.
The gaggle of kids running, laughing, playing, dancing around the stage.
Parking my car and forgetting it for five days! Loved walking everywhere!
Discovering some other FW folk live right in my own small town and we didn't even know it! (our husbands even work together!)

Fri, August 7, 2009 - 2:39 PMmmmmmmmm what delectable fun and wonderment ! this FW journey has been so chocked full of great times that it's hard to separate one from the other into distinguishable moments!
nevertheless, here are some experiences that stand out as particularly amazing
Dancing with willow in the center of the ribbon Pentacle right in front of the stage whjile hearing Will-o- the Wisp ("circle 'round that willow tree, all the ribbons are tied for the. all that was and ever shall be is all the way it was meant to be " )
getting to hear Cap and Bells in full force! i think that's my new favorite song!!!!!! (woodland song.. they sang it both nights, one time with red noses, one time without :)
playing whistle with woodland during the pre-spiral dance ceremony and then during the jig :) what fun fun fun!
being a part of Hjeron's crazy wild shamanic story wrangling on both nights.!! (can't wait to see the pics!)
Hibiscus cooler from the CAsbah. i think i gave them and the elixer place most of my money!
making new friends and reconecting with the old faithfuls :)
camping in , literally, the best spot in the campgrounds with many of our tribe FW family and new and old friends. seriously, our camp ROCKED!!!!!!! total deep shade wild woods faerie enclave!
romping to FAUN and runing into kelly and lio who were dancing as crazily as me and willow were :)
listening to Rosie's stories :)
unknowingly entertaining Louisa John-krohl with a puppet in one of the vendor booths :)
oh i could go on and on!!! -

Sat, August 8, 2009 - 1:50 AMI cant have the sugary syrup they were putting on the shave ice so I just bought a cup of plain ice ($1) and took it to the Elixer stand and she squirted it with all the elixers which made a horrible brown color on my ice but tasted delicious and made me feel great!

Sat, August 8, 2009 - 3:59 AMOk, so, at the time it was not a favorite moment but my sweetie keeps giggling about it, so it must have been kinda funny.
Sunday morning, when the bagpipe player was making the wake up call rounds, there was me, finishing up and stepping out of the potty and hearing blasting bagpipes, looking around for an escape route and deciding, fuck it, I'd rather be in an outhouse, and going back in until she passed. Then opening the door and falling out of the outhouse because I could not see the ground out of one bloodshot eye.
By the way, I'm not dissing the talent of the bagpipe player. It's just that bagpipes in general make me homicidal. -

Fri, August 14, 2009 - 12:48 PMWatching my 3 year old daughter dance around in her faerie get-up and giving out hugs and kisses to every other child she encountered.
My girl, she can be defiant... she doesn't like dressing up, or wearing faerie wings (and we've tried sooo many times)...
But as soon as we got onsite, it was like she picked up on everyone's vibes. She asked me to dress her up and would not leave the booth without some wings to wear. It was redonkulously cute. She danced and sang and even posed happily for pictures (for other people!! another out-of-the-norm). So yeah, that lit up my heart. I thought the heat would get to her, but there was only one incident, which she quickly got over once she was back in the shade with some munchens and rehydration. I think she chased bubbles for a good half hour, we skipped some rocks down by the river, and when Woodland & Faun came on, she told me she wanted to go listen to music, so I just held her and swayed out in the crowds while she snuggled up close to me occassionally looking up into my eyes to tell me "I love you so much", still gets me teary-eyed.... yeah, it was wonderful. Thanks FaerieWorlds. -

*Sharing my mead with Toby and Sarah Froud and getting to spend quite a bit of time with them
*Having my Hubby with me even though he was in pain much of the time cause of the ruff ground on his Fused ankle
*A hot shower on Sunday Morning
*My hat I got from Heather
*Seeing Woodland and Faun perform
*Getting to camp at the venue and not having to drive late at night to a hotel room or something.
*Having Breakfast with my COMFy family though I didn't eat much but to see everyone as they are and not as Faerie was pretty cool!

*Gifting a few people with my own art
*Spending time with Trish, Heather, Cyndi, Copper, Lily, Alec and Kylie

Thu, August 20, 2009 - 6:27 PMdefinitely for me it was just coming home ~ and knowing that the ghosts of last year would not be tromping about because of the new venue... I've never seen more beautiful sunsets, nor enjoyed so much sitting quietly and listening to the sound of distant laughter through the trees even knowing that I wasn't right there in the midst of it... it was as if the world 'outside' stopped and for a moment I could breathe again!
red noses - anyone have pictures from the side of the stage that Kimmy was on?
being in the shadows while the singers, poets, musicians and dancers spun their magic closing night and realizing that Emilio, Kelly and the ManOverboard pirates were sitting there with us...
being a part of creating the fire magic that touched so many people (thank you thank you my brothers and sisters for letting me be a part of that!)
being overwhelmed with gratitude at the effort the COMF kitchen was making on our behalf...
Trish letting me put my mom's creations out in her booth - it was just waaay too hot for stocking hats though! :)
standing at the back of Tasara's car on Monday morning and sharing tears of passage and of faith in our future dreams ~ a deep we-moons grief and blessed joy shared with a Sacred Sister!
and AT LAST! Bringing my son again to a world that best describes his 'crazy' mother and watching him laugh and dance and show off his new Love - to be accepted and independent and not lost in the potential 'party' of it all! Reading the other Mother's stories of their favorite moments with their little ones makes me so teary!! I am so Joy-FULL Sweet Sisters that you are introducing your babies to this Realm!!! They will grow up in the magic and blossom! I soooooo wish there would have been Faerieworlds when my son was a sprite! Magic runs thick in his blood and it would have been an easier journey for him to know it from the beginning ~ but I am so grateful he knows it now!
being a water faerie for a bit (talk about getting people to SMILE!!!)...
oh and yes... teehee! I too, almost fainted from the sight of Rudiger playing the drums on Sunday ~ or was that just the heat from dancing my arse off!?!
