Well hello everyone its a pleasure to be here!
I have a couple questions for the group!
Firstly Im thinking about Vending at this years event. It would be the first time I have ever done anything like this ever and I want to know some things.
For starters do you folks think my stuff would do well there? savagedryad.deviantart.com Please direct your attention to the Flutes and the Crafts sections of my page.
Secondly since I would be new I would love to share space with someone. Im asking around everywhere to see if anyone is willing to. Someone who lives close to me would be great that way we can meet face to face before the event and work out the details. (I live in Salem Oregon fyi)
Even if I don't vend I still may go just because I've wanted to go for years and never been able to. Thanks in advance for the advice guys :)

Re: Advice for a Newbie?
Mon, April 27, 2009 - 1:12 PMYou should vend at FW! You should also decide on a price and set up a shop (etsy, maybe?) so that those of us who will not be attending FW can buy a flute :) -

Re: Advice for a Newbie?
Mon, April 27, 2009 - 4:46 PMdo you make recorder style flutes (theones you blow into one end shaped like a whistle) or just the ones you blow across a hole and hold to the side. If you make the first I would definately love to buy one.
can you make them so they are tuned to different notes . for instance one in the key of G another in D or Cmajor, etc...
also different diameters for lower or higher octaves.
let me know cause I'm definately interested. -

Re: Advice for a Newbie?
Mon, April 27, 2009 - 6:50 PMI have been flirting with the idea of doing so yes. This Friday I'm going to harvest some more bamboo and hopefully I can find some for even doing the Double flutes.
And yes I can tune them to different notes if I need to. Mostly I let the bamboo tune itself. In other words I don't have a plan but in the end they are tuned fairly well to themselves. Such is the way of more primitive flute styles and they work just fine for solo instruments. I make sure they all sound good. Ones that done get given away to little kids typically.
So yes I WILL be making recorders eventually here and YES I can do a more specific on key instrument. I just typically DON'T because my method keeps the costs down quite a bit.
Does that answer your question at all?
